Rivers South East press for governorship slot in 2015
PORT HARCOURT: People of Rivers south east senatorial district are set to press home their demand for the governorship slot of the state with a 50, 000-man road show in Port Harcourt.
Coordinator, Rivers south East Renaissance Movement, Mr Dormu Nwinang who spoke in Port Harcourt on the proposed road show said various ethnic groups in the state have offered to be part of the exercise.
“Solidarity messages from other socio-political groups that share the same aspirations with Rivers South East Renaissance Movement will be part of the campaign show. Already not fewer than five of such groups from Rivers East and Rivers West senatorial districts have indicated what can be described as “courageous interest to align with the agitation of people of Rivers south east senatorial district”, he said.

Boko Haram: Military repels attack on Maiduguri, kills 80 insurgents
Special Forces of the Nigerian Army yesterday routed hundreds of Boko Haram terrorists including foreign mercenaries who invaded Konduga town about 35 kilometres from Maiduguri with a view to setting up a camp and planning to attack Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. This resulted in the killing of more than 80 insurgents, the military said.

UN vows to ‘stay the course’ in Ebola-hit Liberia
The UN mission has been in the country since the end of its civil war in 2003, but has been downsizing gradually from a peak of 15,000 troops and handing security responsibilities back to local police.

Synagogue Church building collapses-- Several Persons Reported dead

Many people are reported to have died with several others injured after a 5-storey building located inside the headquarters of the Synagogue Church of All Nations in Ikotun, Lagos collapsed around 2pm this afternoon.
Many worshipers who lived inside the church building were among those who died while some are believed to still be trapped under the rubble of the collapsed building.
